Candle Care
Burning instructions
1. Trim the wick:
Before lighting your candle, always trim the wick to 1/4 inch (6 mm). This helps prevent the flame from getting too large and producing soot. Use a wick trimmer or scissors for best results.
2. Burn time:
For the first burn, allow the candle to melt across the entire surface. This helps prevent tunneling and ensures an even burn. Aim for a burn time of 2-4 hours per session, but never exceed 4 hours.
3. Re-trimming:
After each burn, trim the wick again before relighting. This helps maintain a clean burn and prolongs the candle’s life.
4. Extinguishing the flame:
To avoid smoke and soot, use a snuffer or gently blow out the flame. Do not use the lid to extinguish the candle.
5. Candle safety:
- Always burn the candle on a heat-resistant surface.
- Keep candles away from drafts, children, pets, and flammable objects.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Stop burning the candle when about 1/2 inch (12 mm) of wax remains at the bottom to avoid overheating the container.
6. Storing your candle:
Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and dust to maintain their fragrance and appearance.Cleaning your container
"Hey there! I see you’ve got a candle that’s almost burned all the way down. Once that last flicker goes out, don’t toss the container—there are so many fun ways to reuse it! Let me walk you through the steps, from cleaning out the leftover wax to giving the container a whole new purpose.
Step 1: Remove the leftover wax
First, let’s get rid of any wax that’s still in the container. There are a couple of ways to do this:
The freezer method:
- Pop the container in the freezer for a few hours. The wax will harden and shrink, making it easier to remove.
- Once it’s fully frozen, just grab a butter knife or spoon and gently pry the wax out. It should pop out pretty easily.
- After that, give the container a good wash with warm, soapy water to clean out any residue.
The boiling water method:
- If you’d rather not freeze it, you can use boiling water instead. Just pour boiling water into the container, leaving a little room at the top.
- The heat will melt the wax, which will float to the top. Let it cool down and harden, then you can just lift it out.
- Again, give the container a good scrub with warm, soapy water once the wax is out.
Step 2: Clean the container
Regardless of the method you use, make sure to wash the container thoroughly with warm, soapy water. This will remove any remaining wax and any soot or fragrance residue. Dry it off completely before you reuse it.
So, instead of throwing that container away, give it a new life! It’s a simple way to be eco-friendly and add a personal touch to your space.
